Speaking in the new issue of the video game magazine Edge, published monthly in the UK, Valve co-founder and CEO Gabe Newell said it will belong to the brain-computer interfaces of the future. Expressing that there will be a direct connection between video games and our brain, Newell stated that brain-computer interfaces are developing faster than people expected and there will be really interesting announcements this year. Brain-computer interfaces create a direct bridge between your brain and an external device. This method, performed with Electroencephalography (EEG), which is the method of recording brain activity through the electrodes on the scalp, allows you to directly control an external device and, more precisely, with your brain activity. Newell thinks that this technology is silent and profound, but many people will want to have fun-oriented brain-computer interfaces in the near future. Valve CEO, who says that the games will use our brain like a hard disk soon, draws a pretty crazy future projection. Many things that have been seen only as science fiction fantasies in the past have entered our lives today. Who knows, maybe we can see the first examples of the brain-computer interface in Half-Life: Alyx’s next game. Half-Life: Alyx, which is about the events between Half-Life and Half Life 2, can be played with the virtual reality (VR) set. The game, which was offered free to players with Valve’s Index VR glasses, was released on March 23.
